The Elizabethan Syngers is an a cappella, early music choral arts organization of volunteer singers dedicated to preserving, promoting, and performing music of and inspired by the Renaissance era. We are seeking confident performers who sing with imagination and have an affinity for theatrical presentation. Strong basic musicianship and mature vocal skills are required. Candidates must be capable and comfortable in a fast-paced learning environment and must be willing to commit the necessary personal time to be prepared for rehearsals and performances.
The candidate will sing without accompaniment any song of their choosing. The audition process also includes a sight-reading exercise and aural recall exercise. The audition will be approximately 20 minutes in duration.
Contact syngersad@gmail.com for more information.
The active rehearsal season runs from late-April through mid-December and is divided into two sub-seasons, culminating with the MN Renaissance Festival in mid-August through September; and a festive holiday concert in December. On-demand performances may be scheduled in the off-season as opportunities arise. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings at 6:30-9:00 p.m. during the regular performance season.
All Syngers are required to procure an approved Renaissance costume. It may be rented from the organization’s extensive collection at a flat fee of $75 or purchased independently. The Elizabethan Syngers’ costume coordinator must approve all costumes.
